Message from the EditorThe idea for JahWorks.org came about long before it was implemented. While I was the Staff Editor of the Bay Areas Reggae Review, I enlisted Robin to do the graphic design and layout. We literally spent hours on the phone and in meetings together making proofing and editing changes, realizing that we worked quite well together. While discussing the Reggae Review, we came up with numerous ideas for the magazine. But our vision was of a broader projecta project that would not only relay music news but would encompass the world surrounding it. So we started brainstorming. She was in web design classes at the time and the web seemed like the perfect medium for the project. Soon after, JahWorks.org was born. The name "JahWorks" came from something the artist Luciano said to me once. He said, "Sister Laura, continue to do Jahs works and make the Almighty light keep shining in thee." When I think of that little kernel of inspiration, it reminds me that we are put here for the greater good and must make the most of it. I hope that Jahworks.org will serve to bring us closer together as a people, and spread the message that Reggae music delivers. The Rastafari faith (and in turn, Roots Reggae music) presents a foundation for living a righteous and spiritual life. We have tried to present this groundwork on our site by incorporating music, culture, travel and community service: all of the elements that remind us that we live in a global community. We fully ascribe to the belief that how we live our lives directly influences our neighbors, and through web technology, our neighbors are multiplying exponentially so that we truly are becoming one. Wed like to thank friends, family and neighbors for their support and input. Robin would like to thank Brian for not caring when the music is turned up too loud at 3AM. Special mention goes to MAG and Tracy Roloff for their expert advice. Special thanks also to Corinne, Teresa and all of the contributors for their dedication and work. Most importantly thanks to IRIE-FM, the Reggae Review, the Beat, Jamaica Station, Out of Many One"the shop," niceup.com, jamaicans.com, and all the wonderful artists, musicians and writers who have inspired us and who continue to spread the positive word.
