On the 10th Anniversary of his death, this tribute album was released to rekindle the greatest hits from truly one of dancehall-reggae’s most promising conscious singers – some even say destined to carry on Bob Marley’s majestic accomplishments. Regardless of the comparison, Garnett Silk is still a legend by these songs left here, with “Splashing Dashing” leading it off on Disc One. If you like your rub-a-dub mixed and dubbed where the the soaring vocals of Garnett lead to a crashing bassline that keeps your foot tapping, then tune in. As the rolling bass on “Kingly Character” introduces Silk to lead his heartfelt tones to Zion, heaven’s open arms welcomed him. Too many stellar cuts to mention--on the first disc, our beloved memories of songs such as “Mama Africa, “Oh Me Oh My” and “It’s Growing” push forward as other gems like “Lion Heart” and “Everything I’ve Got” defined a conscious dancehall era where producers like Bobby “Digital” Dixon and Donavan Germaine ruled the sound boards. On Disc Two, although not as potent with memorable dancehall wall-shakers as the first disc, Garnett’s “Complain” and “Fill Us Up with Your Mercy (Belly Full),” demonstrate that even without a complete high school education, Garnett’s calling was to serve the Lord Jah. His songs “Harder” and “Spread the Love” address a forgotten population and carve out a righteous path for the poverty-stricken ghetto youth, the hopeless, the voiceless and the hungriest lost souls waiting to be found. Sometimes the good die young... Track Listing: Disc One 1 Splashing Dashing
