Capleton, Mr. Lex, Delly Ranks and Sanchez delivered good performances

lexxuscapletonSeabreeze and Mr. Promotions in Long Beach, California must take a bow for their professional staging of the 4th annual Caribbean Seabreeze Festival, which was held on Sunday July 15 at the Queen Mary Park, Long Beach, California. The event was incident free, and production was tight and ran on time. The event featured performances from some of the Caribbean’s brightest stars.

With large tents and stalls erected on the grounds of the park, the atmosphere was one of unity and celebration. The stalls offered various Jamaican and Caribbean foods and delicacies. Long lines littered the venue as patrons sampled the goodies available. Children and the young ones were also part of the mix, as they too were accommodated with various fun-themed events and games.

jeremy harding and delly ranksPrior to the performances of the Jamaican artistes, Belize artiste Aziatic, Trinidad’s Crazy, the Detour Posse and General Jah Mikey treated the large crowd to credible performances.

The fireman Capleton was the star of the entire showcase as he delivered the hits in a blazing inferno. Sanchez cooled the venue with his soothing ballads and reggae treats, while Delly Ranks and Mr. Lex both went the full hundred and gave a good show.

lexxusDelly got the ball rolling following the other Caribbean acts. He maintained a good vibe with the crowd and drew his first glimpse of crowd response as he touched the perennial hit "Headache." Other songs which had the crowd going with him included the lightning rhythm hit "Dem Vex Now," "What a Gal Can Wine," "Pelpa," "Work round Dem," "Bun Him Up," and his latest "Miss Call Me Too Often." A deserving encore saw him returning to the stage to continue his credible performance.

Mr. Lex was his usual charismatic self and he had the crowd eating out of his hands from the moment he hit the stage. With his "Ring Me Cellie" ringing up the dial, Lex drew "Full Hundred" and chastised those who consistently bleached their faces, with his "Monkeys Come Out." He drew some new tracks as well as other familiar material and threw his shirt into the crowd, which saw the girls scurrying in a valiant attempt to catch the garment.

capletonSanchez’ "Here I Am" signaled his arrival and the singer immediately got down to work. He pulled out the catalogue of songs and left no stones unturned in bringing the crowd under his control. Like a choir, the crowd sang along with him. Ladies screamed, the rudeboys flicked their lighters in appreciation. So good was his set, the crowd refused to let him go. "Missing You," "Loneliness," "Pretty Girl," "I Cant Wait" plus scores of others, had left the crowd in a really good mood.

But, it was the fireman who created a blazing inferno towards the end of the show. Capleton outdid himself and sent the patrons inside the Queen Mary Park into a frenzy as the crowd obeyed his every command.

The prophet burned almost everything imaginable as he ran through his large catalogue of tunes which included offerings such as "Jah Jah City," "Good Inna Her Clothes," "Gimmie Di Woman," "Hunt You," "Run Di Place," "Slew Dem" and others. Capleton’s performance left the crowd begging for more, earning him 3 encores.
