Capital DNew York born Puerto Rican and Island Star Recording reggae artiste, Capital D, was in high gear on Saturday, August 6, when he gave a scorching calienté (hot) performance at ‘St. Mary Mi Come From’ held at the Gray’s Inn Sports Complex in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Jamaica.

The artiste, who flew in from Connecticut for the event, told Jahworks.org that he could not have missed performing on the show as the 'fireman’ Capleton is the real deal when it comes to giving fiery performances.

Capital D was given a brief stint on stage and used the opportunity well. He gave an appreciative performance which had several persons in the audience 'bigging up’ his stint.

"It’s an honour to perform on a show of such magnitude which boasts the creme of the crop of reggae entertainers. Man, to be performing on a show with Capleton, Beenie Man, Coco Tea, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, among several other top acts is calienté (hot),” Capital D told Jahworks.org.

The artiste, who performs reggae in both Spanish and English, has a single titled ‘Gun Boys’ that has been enjoying good airplay at home and abroad. He also has a video that has been getting a lot of viewing on local and international cable stations. Footage for the video was shot in Gregory Park by director Jay Will.

Capital D’s latest recording is a collaborative effort with Ini Kamoze titled ‘World A Music’. This single is also enjoying a lot of airplay.

No longer a stranger to the dancehalls, Capital D has made appearances on several local and overseas shows, opening for top acts such as Luciano, Sanchez, Warrior King, Capleton and Bounty Killer.

He has performed on major Jamaican stage shows including Rebel Salute, East Fest, Sting, Sumfest, Fully Loaded and also on several local shows in Connecticut and New York.

Capital D is at present working with popular Jamaican saxophonist and producer Dean Fraser who has produced several tracks on his upcoming debut album. The album features collaborations with Anthony B, Luciano and Junior Kelly. Established musicians Sly Dunbar, Dwight Pinkney, Fire House Crew, Glen Brownie and Christopher Birch also contributed to putting the album together.

Capital D performed on Beenie Man’s Summer Sizzle show on August 27 at Jamalco Sports Club in Halse Hall, Clarendon, and at Irie Jamboree on Sunday, September 4 at Roy Wilkins Park in New York.

Island Star Recording based in Connecticut is Capital D’s official booking and management agency.
