Dangazone logoOne of the fastest growing reggae conglomerates in the music business today is the Miami-based DangaZone Entertainment, headed by four longtime friends (including two brothers) who came out of the Ironshore district of Montego Bay, Jamaica's second city.

Brothers Delmar Drummond and Dean Drummond along with good friends Jerome Alder and Edward Warren came together in 2000 to form the company. With a mission statement ‘unification through music’, DangaZone Entertainment has embarked on the mission to bridge the gap between Jamaica's reggae/dancehall, with hip hop and R&B.

With offices in Montego Bay and Miami, DangaZone Entertainment has placed its fingers on the pulse of the music industry, at home and aboard. Additionally, as a relatively new and independent record label, DangaZone has thus far signed newcomers Luddy, Faze, Matik, Hezron, and veterans like Junior Demus, Junior Cat, Merciless, and the upcoming Jah Cure.

According to Delmar a.k.a. Della, "DangaZone started out as a sound system in Montego Bay. We've been friends from we were youths. Edward is from Westmoreland and Jerome is from Maroon Town in St. James. We all linked up at Herbert Morrison Technical High in MoBay."

The original sound system is still operating in Jamaica, and is still playing at a lot of big events across the island. Della says the name DangaZone came from a line in a Capleton song.

In its commitment to the music industry, DangaZone Entertainment operates its own state-of-the-art recording studio in Montego Bay, and in the South Beach area of Miami, which is frequented by celebrities from various facets of the entertainment industry. Top class producers, engineers and musicians are employed to ensure that the best sounding material come out on its label.

The label has released quite a few good singles in Jamaica and the United States, and has achieved chart success with the recent top ten single on the South Florida Reggae Chart - ‘Jamaica’ by Jah Cure. It peaked at the No. 6 position for three weeks!

Also currently available is ‘Home Tonight’ by Luddy, ‘Into You’ by Junior Demus & Junior Cat – which has a very professionally done video which is making the rounds on various video programmes in Jamaica and the United States – ‘Losing You’ with Buju Banton, ‘My Love’ by Sizzla, ‘How Long’ with George Nooks, and ‘Give A Little Love’ by Richie Spice, which are all getting massive radio play in the South Florida area.

Over the past few years, DangaZone Entertainment has successfully produced various music events like the Miami Reggae Sumfest, Jamaica Springfest in Montego Bay, and the Miami ReggaeFest. It has also planned and executed events involving its signed artistes, and associate artistes like Busta Rhymes, Elephant Man, and Beenie Man, among others.

The expectation of all the members of DangaZone Entertainment is to build a solid foundation network for artistes, sound systems, record label, and recording experts. The DangaZone crew aims to fuse the different genres, resulting in an appealing blend of quality entertainment for everyone to fully enjoy. Best of luck to these pioneering Jamaicans – unification through music is indeed a reality!
