REGGAE ON THE RIVER
DOCUMENTARY
This year's festival also marks
the release of a 2-disc DVD chronicling the music and history of the landmark
festival. The official release date was July 27, 2004.
The
first disc features a documentary about the history of the festival with
commentary by organizer Carol Bruno, Ras Records' founder Doctor Dread,
and artists Michael Franti, Judy Mowatt, and more. It even includes snippets
from activist Julia Butterfly Hill, who has been an important voice for
Humboldt County environmentalism.
The second disc features live
performances by many of the great artists who have graced the Reggae on
the River stage: Israel Vibration, Beres Hammond, the Marley Brothers
(Damian, Julian, Stephen), Third World, Michael Franti, Anthony B, Toots
and the Maytals and more. The filming is well done and they paint a very
accurate picture of the festival. For more info and to see clips, visit
