www.congabay.com—Congabay, is like any other far away and secluded little seaside community, where people live and interact with each other. The whispering trade winds signal in the evenings and life is easy and enjoyable down at the bay. The sandy beaches and waters are sights to be seen, and the moored fishing boats toss and turn with each incoming tide. Everyone is welcomed to Congabay. This site guides you through travel in Conga Bay.

Caribbean Travel and Life–This is the site for the related print magazine. For high-end Caribbean travelers, this site is aesthetically quite beautiful and has a great destination guide for travel planning. The magazine and site also run photo contests and trip sweepstakes, along with event and news features.

 
   

www.lonelyplanet.com — Starting out as a guidebook and phrasebook publishing company based in Oakland, California, Lonely Planet has excelled with over 500 titles covering every country in the world for travelers of all types. Lonely Planet provides solid, down-to-earth advice, accurate maps and enriching background information. And each year LP donates a percentage of its profits to organizations benefiting the people and places it covers. Their website features a wonderful travel bulletin board called The Thorn Tree, where travelers from all over can share advice and stories, although the site’s navigation is not entirely intuitive. Their Caribbean literature includes an overview guidebook about the Eastern Caribbean as well as specific regional guides: Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, Cuba, Dominican Republic & Haiti, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

 
 

www.negril.com — Dedicated to the Spring Break Mecca, negril.com provides daily news from Negril, accommodations, message boards, dining and activity suggestions, entertainment listings, deals and everything else you need to know about the white sand city.

 
 

www.treasurebeach.net — A community site dedicated to Jamaica’s Treasure Beach area (South Coast), which supports community-based tourism. They provide lodging, dining, and activity suggestions in the area, spotlights on community members as well as ways to get involved in the Treasure Beach/Great Bay community.

www.gligli.com — SVG Create is an art/craft group formed by the artists and craftspeople of St. Vincent whom the US Peace Corps volunteers helped create the website gligli.com. The Web site allows members of SVG Create to display and sell their artwork to anyone with access to the Internet, including Vincentians living abroad and international visitors to the island nation. Traditional materials, designs, and skills have been handed down from prior generations to ensure the products are truly Vincentian. The money made off of the craft items goes directly back to the SVG community. Gligli.com spotlights specific artists and also the artists’ process. The site sells jewelry, household items, paintings, banana art, basketry and more.

Dedicated to discussing all things Jamaican, they share recipes, patois tips, wonderful articles about Jamaican culture, travel suggestions, news from "back a yard" and a whole heap more. Whether you’re a Jamaican living abroad or an interested tourist, the site has something for you. They also feature over ten different message boards.

The New York Times Travel Section--Caribbean

Full of recent news, travel tips, archived articles, destination guides, and reservation tools, the New York Times has revamped its online travel section. The only downside is, although access is free of charge, you need to create and sign in with a password.

www.cheaptickets.com — A self-proclaimed warehouse of cheap airfare, Cheap Tickets claims that more than 500,000 non-published discount airfares are offered on over 35 airlines. The downside to their site is that you must first login before you can even see the rates. They also make hotel, car, and cruise reservations.

 
 

Planet Rider—Everybody knows that the World Wide Web is a frustrating jungle of information. PlanetRider’s team of editors has bushwhacked through the chaos to bring you the best travel sites on the 'Net. They also allow one to check nearby airports; for example, if you enter San Francisco, CA, they pull up the Oakland and San Jose airports as well.
